Torch-On Felt Systems
The qualities of the two polymers used in torch on roofing solutions differ. APP is a flexible solution that responds well to heating and cooling and has good UV radiation and sun resistance. SBS is an elastic solution that can absorb the structural movements, expansions, and contractions of the underlying components. As the UV radiation resistance is not as high as APP, the SBS layer tends to be specified with an additional finish of gravel or slate. Either can used as a two layer or a three layer build-up depending on guarantee and spec.
The system can be specified for new projects; however, it lends itself well to refurbishment as the existing roof doesn’t always require removing.
